The PrettyUgly Theatre Productions
Our Story:
PrettyUgly Theatre Productions was founded by Hannah Gibson-Fraser and Jodi Morden in 2014.
The concept of "PrettyUgly" came from the idea of creating and producing theatre that deals with the "Pretty Ugly" truth about relationships, identity, and sexuality. We want to encourage audiences to face things that would otherwise go unsaid. Sometimes, a person may look at their life and the decisions they have made with shame, joy or excitement. They may be turned on by things that they assume other people don't think or feel. They may have questions about their sexuality and be too afraid to ask for guidance and understanding. Our goal is to touch on the dynamics of a plethora of different relationships, from friends, to lovers, to life mates. From a lack of fulfillment, communication breakdowns, abuse, the joy and sexy business and who we are within it, while honouring both sides of the spectrum. Delving into the darker secrets of what is really happening when no one else is looking, what are the contradictions and limitations? How do couples exist together while continuing to honour one another. Exploring the challenges, joy, and pain of contemporary relationships, while confronting and leaving behind the myth. Reaching for what makes us happy is becoming more “normal” and more accessible.
Let's get to the raw truth. We want the world to know that others can relate to whatever happy, heartbreaking, funny, sad, or embarrassing story you may have experienced. We want you to laugh, cry, and cringe at the Pretty Ugly truth, while offering our audiences a raw, funny, and honest theatrical experience each time.
